Guide to the Anna Maria Winter Season
Anna Maria Island isn’t just a summer action spot; it is a luxurious and beautiful vacation destination all year round. During the off-season, you can head to this incredible beach town to enjoy the pristine weather, sunny days, and empty beaches. Instead of heading to an expensive and crowded ski resort that is going to be overpriced and overrun with tourists, Anna Maria Island will stay sunny, warm, and perfect for tourists all year round.
Not only will you be able to get better deals on accommodation, restaurants, and tourist attractions, but you can enjoy some peace and solitude during your off-season vacation on Anna Maria Island. Plus, there are dozens of events, attractions, and activities that you can do during the Anna Maria winter months that you can’t find during the summer!
Veterans Day Parade
One of the best weekends to come to Anna Maria Island is during the beginning of November for the Veterans Day Parade and ceremony! This fun and exciting parade and event is held every year at City Pier Park, featuring a celebration for those who have served our country. Located at 10005 Gulf Drive, head here in the afternoon on November 11th to honor those who have fought for our country, debate with locals, and listen to live music in the bright sunny weather.
Bradenton Beach Lighting
Another fun thing to do during your winter getaway in Anna Maria Island is to head to Bradenton Beach for the lighting of the tree! This fun event is held every year on Gulf Drive in Holmes Beach to celebrate the upcoming holiday season. Even if you come to Anna Maria Island before Christmas time, you can still take part in this fun ceremony on December 3rd from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Listen to live Christmas music, dance with your friends and family, dress up in costume, wear your favorite holiday sweater, and let the Christmas cheer take over!
Holiday Walk of Treasures
If you are interested in an educational and fun thing to do during the cold winter months, then we can’t think of anywhere better to be than the AMI Historical Society. This community-driven corporation hosts a Holiday Walk of Treasures open house on December 10th at 10 a.m. in Anna Maria, Florida.
District Art Walk
If you are interested in the local community, local artists, and supporting those who try to create sculptures, paintings, drawings, and interesting things to see, then head to the Holmes Beach Art District to take part in the Art Walk on the second Friday of every month from January 12th to April 13th.
We love how you can come here multiple times during your winter in Florida getaway! Come here during the evening from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for a pre- or post-dinner activity that helps support the local community. Plus, you can meet and chat with the local artists to find out more about their inspiration!
Bradenton River Regatta
Are you a sports lover at heart? Even if you have never watched a boat race in your life, you will love watching this fun-filled and heart-pounding event! Head to Palmetto, Florida, on February 12th for a full day of fun, sports, competition, and great food. Have a hot dog, munch on some popcorn, and sip on a beer as you watch intense athletes with their F2 watercraft zip through the water!
Accommodations in Anna Maria Island, FL
Are you indeed heading to Anna Maria Island during your upcoming winter vacation? We don’t blame you! Instead of going to the same-old ski towns and waiting in lines, joining crowds to get on the slopes, and paying thousands of dollars for a far-away hotel room, we can think of a better place to stay.
Anna Maria Island in Florida is one of the best spots to go to if you want to go to the beach without the crowds. Instead of being on the beach with tons of other tourists during the height of the summer, head here during the winter to enjoy hiking, biking, and doing other outdoor activities without tons of people in your way.
Plus, there are tons of Anna Maria winter events that only happen once per year! These fun annual events can help put you in the holiday spirit — even if you come to Florida during the early weeks of November! There are tons of things to do, from Veterans Day parades to February one-time events.
